Sensory activities in nature are really great if you want to engage your child and do something together, giving your child your full attention. Even in winter or early spring, one can find times when it’s pleasant enough to go out for a little while. Some activities can be completed inside, after you gathered materials outside. The postcard in the picture was made in the summer, but there are actually many colourful leaves, petals and seeds to be found any time of the year. This activity and many other playful activities engaging the senses and connecting with nature can be found on the website of the Sensory Trust www.sensorytrust.org.uk in the Resources section.
Engaging the senses and connecting with nature and the outdoors is a great way to focus on your child and give them your undivided attention. And that will undoubtedly help you both to re-connect.
Have a great time together!
